The Montreal Canadiens already have one 30-goal scorer in Brendan Gallagher, but Max Domi is awfully close to reaching that milestone himself.
Carey Price and his 315-styled night wasn’t the only thing to come out of the Montreal Canadiens win over the Detroit Red Wings. The goal scoring began and ended with Max Domi as potted his 23rd and 24th goals of the season. It was his first productive night goal-wise in six games dating back to the incredible five-point night at the expense of the, wait for it, Detroit Red Wings.
His first of the night came in the second period. The play started with Tomas Tatar driving to the offensive zone through the middle of the ice. With two Detroit players closeby, Tatar ram the puck around the boards and behind the net to Andrew Shaw along the right wall. Domi glided uncontested to the front of the net while Shaw found his stick for a deflection goal past Jimmy Howard to make it 1-0.
Domi’s second of the game came at the end of regulation when the goal was to prevent a tying effort from the Red Wings as it was a 2-1 hockey game by that point. Frans Nielsen was stripped of the puck allowing Jordan Weal to come away with it and send Domi flying down the ice for the empty-net goal.
The trade looks better and better as each game passes by with Domi recording his fifth two-goal game and 14th multi-point night.
