Selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round (12th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Domi helped the London Knights capture back-to-back OHL championships in 2012 and 2013 before serving as team captain during the 2014-15 season.
Domi made his NHL debut with the Coyotes on Oct. 9, 2015, and ranked third in scoring among rookies with 52 points (18g, 34a) in 81 games that season. He also spent time with Montreal and Columbus before he was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Blue Jackets in a three-team trade on March 21, 2022. Domi ranks eighth in career points, seventh in assists and 11th in goals among his draft class.

Domi signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 13, 2022. He was traded to the Dallas Stars with goalie prospect Dylan Wells on March 2, 2023, for goalie Anton Khudobin and a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. He signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 3, 2023.
