Arizona Coyotes forward Max Domi scored in the second period of his NHL debut against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.

Domi beat Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick with a wrist shot 4:43 into the period to give Arizona a 3-0 lead. The son of former NHL player Tie Domi had an assist on a first-period goal by Oliver Ekman-Larsson that put the Coyotes ahead 2-0.

“It was a lot of fun,” Domi said after the 4-1 victory. “It was tough to get a smile off my face that whole 60 minutes. But it’s awful nice to get the win and start the season off the right way.”

Domi, 20, was the 12th pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.

“I’m so happy for him,” coach Dave Tippett said. “He’s waited for this game for a long time, and to come out and play as well as he did, it was really nice to see.”
